Discover Aix-en-Provence, the City of a Thousand Fountains
Visit Aix-en-Provence, often referred to as the City of a Thousand Fountains. To start with, walk through one of the many fragrant and colourful markets that are organized on an everyday basis in the center of the city. Marvel at the sights of leafy boulevards and public squares that are surrounded by 17th and 18th century mansions with moss-covered fountains sprouting everywhere. Admire the views of the surrounding 1,011 m-high Mount St Victoire that served as a great inspiration to Post-Impressionist painter Paul Cézanne, a native of Aix-en-Provence. Go on to explore this small city with its busy market at the square and taste the local specialty 'Calisson' (at additional expense).
Explore the lavender hills around the Valensole Plateau
